KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) President Datuk Michael Lui Yen Sang welcomes the move by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal to secure more foreign investments for Sabah.
“It includes China, Japan and the European countries. China investors, especially have expressed interest to invest a total of more than USD6 billion in Sabah,” he said during the 2019 Chinese New Year Festive Celebration here, today.

“We also urge Sabah entrepreneurs to respond to the Chief Minister’s call to invest in the state to spur our economic growth that would create more jobs and income for Sabahans.
“We also applauded the commitment of the Chief Minister to spend a quarter of Sabah Budget by March and April to ensure liquidity of the state’s economy.
“This is indeed good news for the business community,” he said.
He said the KKCCCI was also glad to hear that Mohd Shafie has decided to get rid of the ‘Little Napoleons’ or red tape in order to expedite approvals for development projects.

“All these actions and measures comply with the wishes of the people and once again reflect the State Government’s serious concern for the people’s needs and well-being,” said Lui.
Meanwhile, Lui thanked the Chief Minister for recognising the Chinese community contributions to the state’s economic and education development.
“We urge the Chinese community and business leaders in Sabah to work together with the State Government and to continue giving cooperation to the Government to ensure development in the State can continue to be carried out.
“KKCCCI would like to reiterate once again our strong and firm commitment to support the Government as well as help to develop the State for the betterment of Sabah people,” he said. -SabahNewsToday
